Let me tell you a little bit about how I got here and why I very much love what I do. I grew up in the suburbs of Chicago in a middle class household with a brother and 2 sisters. Both of my parents worked full time and although they knew the value of family dinner time, nutrition was not a factor. We had dinners that would fill us up, not necessarily keep us healthy.
I was the youngest and came home from school every day alone. I ate whatever I could find which was usually junk food. Nobody exercised in my house either. Needless to say I was a moderately overweight child. Fitness and nutrition were simply just not priorities in my childhood!
It wasn’t until I became pregnant with my son, David, that I started to really become aware of and interested in nutrition. I wanted a super healthy baby and I knew enough to know I did not know much at all! I started reading everything I could get my hands on about fitness and good nutrition and how to incorporate BOTH into my life equally. This is how my passion began.
I have experienced ups and downs, relationships that had stagnated my growth, and other slight setbacks, but overall over the last 25 years I continued to learn and study these topics and as a result – have been able to improve on my own health and I feel absolutely fabulous.
I love to pay this forward and motivate others and celebrate in their successes! My friends and family always told me that this is what I should do for a living because of my passion and compassion for others. What I desire most is for every person that I can possibly reach to feel as good about themselves as I have learned to feel about myself.
I am so excited and honored to be a part of My Health and Wellness Advisor! The need for health and wellness coaching reaches far beyond the obvious of weight loss and fitness. It encompasses all of life! Wellness is a term for our whole being, emotionally and physically, and I am extremely proud to be a part of an organization that recognizes the serious need for making a huge difference in helping to make wellness coaching available for EVERYONE, not just the privileged.
I am 48 and recently finally met and married my true soulmate who values the importance of health and wellness as much as I do. We are very active people. We love to walk our dogs, go to the park and train together. We love to eat and are always trying to come up with new and exciting ways to make healthier foods. I have 2 beautiful grown children of my own and am now blessed with 2 more beautiful step children, 3 dogs (and just a few reptiles LOL).
I look forward to meeting you and getting you started on your way to better health!!
